John J. Campion is the co-founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of APR Energy, a company that specializes in the rapid deployment of cost-efficient, reliable electricity anywhere in the world. APR customers range from sovereign utilities in high-growth emerging or frontier markets to public and private utilities in developed markets and other industries that require dedicated power-solutions. The company employs more than 150 people in the United States and more than 850 internationally.

Prior to his role as Executive Chairman, Mr. Campion served as Chief Executive Officer of APR Energy since the company’s inception in 2004 through August 2014. While serving as CEO, Mr. Campion earned two U.S. patents for a scalable, portable modular power plant and a 40-foot transformer substation container design. He established a community development program that improved the overall quality of life in communities served by APR through projects that support local infrastructure, education and healthcare initiatives.

In 2014, Jacksonville Business Journal honored Mr. Campion with its Ultimate CEO award. During that same year, APR received the MEED Quality Award for the Oman Power & Water Project, the Innovation of the Year award from Jacksonville Business Journal, Asian Power’s Fast-Track Power Plant of the Year and a Middle East Electricity’s Power Plant of the Year finalist awards.

Mr. Campion formed APR Energy after acquiring and serving as President of Alstom Power Rentals, a subsidiary of Paris-based Alstom Power Inc., from 2002 to 2004. Earlier in his career, Mr. Campion co-founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Showpower Inc., a portable generator company serving the entertainment industry. When later acquired by GE Energy Rentals, Mr. Campion held the position of Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

A native of Ireland, Mr. Campion came to the United States in 1984 while working backstage as a roadie for a rock-and-roll band. The experience he gained producing rock-and-roll acts led to his career providing reliable sources of temporary power.

Mr. Campion supports several philanthropic and civic organizations including Just a Bunch of Roadies (JABOR), a nonprofit organization that connects and engages music-industry professionals with humanitarian projects domestically and worldwide. Mr. Campion supports the University of North Florida Osprey SAE Racing Team, a program offering college students experience in mechanical engineering as they build, test and race cars in the annual SAE student racing competition.
