Julie Larkin, Associate Director, Summer Business Institute

Julie Larkin serves as the Associate Director of the Office of the Student Experience. The Summer Business Institute is one of her favorite weeks of the year, as she has the opportunity to work with both college and high school students in creating a “force for good” in society. Julie received her undergraduate degree in psychology and masters of science in business analysis from The Catholic University of America. An entrepreneur herself, she loves helping students discover their vocations, in business and in life.

“The Summer Business Institute provided me with such a renewed sense of our mission here in The Busch School. I became completely engulfed in the contagious energy of the high school students and our college counselors as they spent the week brainstorming, competing, and discovering. I loved witnessing their ideas spring to life and experiencing strangers become friends. This is the kind of environment we strive to create with all of our students!” -Julie Larkin

The Summer Business Institute Counselors are upperclassmen men and women studying in The Busch School. Our counselors come from a wide variety of majors and interests including finance, marketing, economics, etc. as well athletics, art, and music. Each of our students has a passion for integrating entrepreneurship into their daily lives and working to create business as a "force for good!"

"Working at the Summer Business Institute at the Catholic University of America was a wonderful experience. Working with students close to my age allowed us to connect easily and allowed me a unique opportunity to mentor students. The students were bright and fun, and their ideas excited me. We were able to explore the city- Alexandria, the National Mall, and Arlington Cemetery-- all while learning valuable insight from leading business leaders. I was able to gain a lot from talking with the students, visiting places like the American Enterprise Institute, and being alongside some of my best friends while doing it. It was a great way to gain leadership experience, meet new people, and strengthen relationships.” -Claire Mullican, SBI Counselor, Summer 2016

“I had a spectacular time being a counselor for the Summer Business Institute. Leading and getting to know my own team as well as the others who came to attend in the institute was a joy. Getting to show others the school and city that I have come to love and what they both have to offer was an awesome experience that every student with an interest in business and a sense of adventure should have.” -Thomas DiBenedetto, SBI Counselor, Summer 2016
