Kathleen "Flourishes" in International Business

Name: Kathleen Harrington

Hometown: Westwood, MA

Major: International Business

Why I chose CUA: CUA was my ultimate college selection as a result of the small class sizes, which would allow for a more academically rigorous college experience. Plus, CUA's fantastic location in D.C. still maintains a true campus feel.

Why I decided to major in international business: I chose to study my major because I strongly believe that students need to develop a more international awareness and business is a language that forms connections on this international sphere.

Most influential professor: Dr. Aguirre has influenced me the most because her ECON 103 class presented a topic that was entirely new and challenging for me. It pushed my limits by forcing me to think in a whole new way and thus broadened my perspective.

Favorite course: My favorite business course has been Management 323. Professor Miller kept us up-to-date on recent news pertaining to business. We were able to apply and experiment with various business techniques in a faux business environment with the GLO-BUS simulator game.

Words for prospective students: Prospective students should choose CUA because there are few universities that care so deeply about a student's success.

Preparing for a future in business: I do feel as though I am being well prepared for a future in business because I am given a broad variety of classes that truly enhance my perception of the world and give me a deep understanding of business from all angles.

On studying at a Catholic institution: Studying business at a Catholic institution has been beneficial because there is a strong emphasis on business ethics and how to perform honorably in business.

Plans after graduation: After college, I hope to join the Peace Corps and work in business development.

In an age where being internationally minded is essential, international business at CUA provides the skills and perspective necessary to flourish in this globally aware business world.– Kathleen Harrington
